Our practice philosophy

We have the simple idea that our clients wish their pets to receive the same care and attention that we ourselves would hope to find at an animal hospital.  They expect conscientious, knowledgeable medical care and want their pets to receive from us the same kindness and consideration they receive at home.

We assume everyone wants the best possible care for their pets but realize that cost is often an important consideration.  We will provide an estimate of anticipated charges before starting treatment and whenever possible make you aware of alternatives that may be more economical.

Holidays:
We are closed on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.  We are open all other holidays.  If a holiday falls on a weekend, we do not close an extra day to make up for it.

Drop off policy:
If your pet needs attention and you are not able to come in for a regular appointment, we are happy to accept him or her into the hospital any time after 8:00 AM provided that we have a telephone number where you can be reached and you are a regular client in good standing with the hospital.  Your pet will be examined later in the day and  you will be contacted before further treatment.

Visiting hours:
You are welcome to visit your pet any time we are open.  It is more convenient for us if you wait until after 10:00 AM, when things have settled down a little.

Tours:
We enjoy giving hospital tours to individuals or small groups.  If, for instance, you work with Cub Scouts or Brownies and want to arrange a tour, give us a call.   Individuals wishing to take a look at our facility are welcome to come at any time, without notice. The most peaceful time of day and most convenient for us is between 3:00 and 4:00 in the afternoon.

A word about appointments:

Unless your pet has a life-threatening emergency, please arrange an appointment.   If you arrive unexpectedly and we have time available we are glad to see your pet right away but unless he or she actually has an immediately serious emergency, appointments have precedence.

When you take the trouble to be on time for an appointment, you should expect punctuality from us. Unless our schedule is disrupted by an emergency, we are nearly always able see you when we promised.  Unfortunately, late-arriving clients can make this difficult.  When one client puts us behind schedule, it is hard to meet our commitments to others, so please try to be on time. If you are late and the client scheduled after you arrives sufficiently early, we may be able to see them first and give their appointment time to you.  Otherwise, all we can do is give you the next available appointment, which might mean a very short wait or a very long wait.

If you phone before coming in to pick up a prescription refill, we can have it ready when you arrive.
